Do you come to where I live?

Critter Sitters serves almost all of Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties, and parts of Waukesha County. Take a look at our Caring Area to see if you're within our service area. And if you're not, give us a call, we might be able to work something out.

What's best about pets at home?
Pets are happiest when they are at home, surrounded by familiar sights, sounds, and smells... their own bed and sunny spot; their toys and the smells of the people they love most. Pets feel safe and happy- contented in their favorite room, maybe with a radio or tv on, and their favorite toys right where they left them. A familiar diet, exercise routine and schedule with their own personal attention from their Pet Care Provider is the perfect answer. We'll even administer any medications, if needed.

Can I trust you with my pet?
Your Veterinarian knows us... just ask-they'll agree that we are worthy of your best friend's trust... and yours! Critter Sitters is insured, bonded. and we will happily supply references if you like. We've been Southeastern Wisconsin's trusted professional pet sitting service since 1986!

Why Professional Pet Sitting?
Because pets who stay safely and cozily in their own homes are healthier and happier.

What's wrong with boarding my pet?
Well, kennels and doggy day care facilities can expose dogs to injury and stress, and diseases like kennel cough, distemper, parvovirus. Do you really want your pet in a crate all day? ...and what about your kitties, birds, fish or other beloved pets?!

"Well, my neighbor's kid said he would take care of them...
Neighbors, friends or family members, although well intentioned, usually don't have the training, health and behavioral experience (or insurance...) to truly cover all the possibilities.

Won't my pet get lonely?
Most pets sleep a good part of the day when they stay at home. It's perfectly natural for them - besides, they're relaxed because they're in a familiar and safe environment. It's actually what your pet wants.

What about socializing?
Sure, you know your pet needs and wants to socialize. We suggest a smaller controlled environment- not when your dog is surrounded by barking crated animals or when your cat is out of her home in a small cage and feeling stressed and abandoned. This is not healthy 'socialization'.

Will my pet get enough attention?
We provide plenty of exercise and stimulation, personalized one-on-one care... your pet gets a "fun new friend". Our Pet Care Providers are often referred to as 'Auntie' by our clients.

How often do you visit?
As often as you'd like. We offer pet "moms and dads" the freedom to stay late at work or take the vacation they want, when they want. We're available every day of the year.

You cost more, don't you?
Maybe a little, but when you consider the time and stress of boarding... taking your pet there, awkward pick up times, the concern of leaving your home empty and unattended. We have been keeping homes safe and secure for over 20 years... and your confidentiality is always our priority. Considering all this, our clients think that we're a real bargain.

I still feel guilty leaving my pet behind...
We know how you feel, but pets love their routine. Using Critter Sitters is the best way for them to enjoy their time when you are away. So, don't worry, that's exactly what we're here to do. Our goal is to take care of them just as you do... whatever makes them most comfortable.

Do you have credentials?
All of our Pet Care Providers are trained in pet health care and behavior. We administer medications, observe changes in your pet's needs and behavior and are certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. We follow all the NAPPS industry standards. We're members of PPAW and BBB... and we've been professional pet sitting in Southeastern Wisconsin since 1986.

What communities do you service?
We generally service everything from Cedarburg, Mequon and the North Shore to Downtown Milwaukee and Bayview, and parts of Waukesha County. Take a look at our Caring Area for more details.

Can you take care of my horses?
Yes, we even care for horses, llamas, pigs, goats and sheep.

Are you sure you can handle my exotic pet?
We've taken care of just about everything - from Iguanas to Cockatiels, Ferrets to Parrots - who better than Critter Sitters- the experienced pet care professionals?

My pet is really shy - what can you do for her?
All the more reason to work with Critter Sitters. Can you imagine what she would go through at a kennel? We even work with pets to help them become more confident.

Can you handle an aggressive dog?
At our 'get acquainted' consultation meeting we will get to know you and your pet. At that time we can better determine if there may be any issues with providing professional care for your pet.. It is so important for us to get accurate, up to date information about your pet's behavior and history! (There is a $15 charge for this initial Consultation meeting.)

What if my dog bites someone while we're away?
We make every effort to keep trouble away from your pets, or putting your pet in a position where it feels threatened. Our priority of course, is to keep everyone safe. But it can happen. If it does, we make responsible decisions and respond accordingly. You will be immediately notified should any situations arise.

Do you really do all that much?
Sometimes maybe we do make it look a little too easy- not so! We arrive in a timely manner- whatever the weather! We care for your pets following all your detailed instructions, making sure your pet is snuggled into the place in your home where they are relaxed and safe We secure your home by watering plants, checking for mail, newspapers and packages; setting alarms, and double checking all your homes systems during extreme weather. There are a lot of important responsibilities we attend to that most people don't realize.

Will you drive my pet to the vet or groomer?
Yes, we offer a pet taxi service.

Will you care for my pet even if I'm at home?
We have clients who've contacted us when they're sick with the flu or have a hospital stay and some who just like the kind of exercise and stimulation we can provide for their pet.

What do you look for in a pet sitter?
Someone who absolutely loves animals - of all kinds. Someone who is responsible, dedicated, mature, yet has a sense of fun and fulfillment - especially when they take care of fuzzy, furry and feathered friends!

Do you work with vets and others in animal care?
We network extensively with veterinarians and other pet specialists. This allows us to research and provide answers to our clients' pet questions or refer them to the best possible information, service or health care.

Do you work with business executives who travel a lot?
We assist frequent business travelers by providing them the freedom to travel at the spur of the moment knowing their pets and homes will be cared for. For a lot of business people, we're lifesavers. For most, we provide them the opportunity to have their own pet greet them instead of coming home to an empty condo or home.

I could really use someone to help me out when I work late (which is often).
We provide scheduled walks for dogs (or visits for kitties, etc) that extends the time you have to get your workday finished. These times are flexible and very often we can accommodate those last minute requests.

What about holidays? Or late nights?
Our days start at about 7 a.m. and our last visits are scheduled for 9 p.m. We are available on weekends and holidays - but please make sure to schedule in advance!

What kinds of pets do you care for?
In addition to dogs and cats, we work with exotics, fresh and saltwater fish, birds, pocket pets, ferrets, reptiles, amphibians, house bunnies, tarantulas, hobby farms (llamas, horses, etc.) and the occasional moose... OK, we just wanted to see if you were really paying attention!

Do you offer discounts?
We do. Especially for Seniors, Certified service animals, Armed Services personnel, Police, Firefighters and other emergency workers.

Do you sponsor any events?
Yes. Currently we're involved with Pug Fest, several rescue groups, the Wisconsin Humane Society, Pet Expo's at Jackson Park and Washington Bark and the Milwaukee Police K9 event (a fundraiser focusing on acquiring bullet proof jackets for police dogs). It is very important to us that we meet and support the communities that support us. Please let us know of any upcoming events you may be involved with.

What training is there for Pet Sitting?
Our professional Pet Care Providers are trained to recognize a new illness, perform First Aid and are CPR certified. They receive ongoing education and guidance from veterinarians and are regularly exposed to the latest in research, trade journals, conferences, and our own extensive library of materials.
